17 million people live in the main intersection that connects Europe and Asia, west and east. For many, Istanbul represents an opportunity to have a better life, get a job and survive. Not far from the finest restaurants, tourist areas and glowing Ottoman heritage, in some of Istanbul's poorest districts, people live simple but difficult lives. I have photographed in Istanbul on a few occasions over the last 5-6 years and the more I do it the more I feel and get true feelings: love, hate, empathy, joy, curiosity, apathy, you name it.
