A study of how children are affected, experienced, and traumatized in war. Examples of different experiences and thoughts of children in war:
When they imprisoned my first brother I was so small.
When they shot him we washed him in his grandmother's house.
He had three bullet holes in his chest.
When they imprisoned my second brother I wanted us to free all his pigeons.
I opened the cages and there they flew, white, broen, speckled.
Immediately returned and sat on the roof of my home.
Now he too is shot and I wonder, where are his pigeons.
Since world war II, about 150 wars or major armed conflicts have taken place, across the world. But afrer the dissolution of the EasternBloc, Europe has also been affected. The majority of all refugees are women and children. They are fleeing countries affected by war. Men often stay because they have to take part in wars or try to protect their homes. Today, Sweden is a multicultural society where different nationalities and cultures meet daily. For many children, these meetings take place at school, children with different backgrounds meet on this common platform. Many children come from countries of origin where war, famine and abuse are part of their everyday lives. Many children and young people who come to Sweden today lack experience of peaceful existence, however, they know the dangers of war. That is the harsh reality for people fleeing their country //// Robert Rggus G
